Composition
Françoise Caron's 1997 lush floral. Mandarin, patchouli and bergamot spark over a lavish heart of tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, ylang-ylang and peach, resting on vetiver, amber and vanilla. Opulent, green and sun-drenched.
To me this smells like a Kolkata flower market at dawn, when the tuberose garlands are still cold and the whole street is white flowers and green stems. Mandarin and bergamot sparkle over the top, then tuberose, gardenia and jasmine arrive in waves — lavish, heady, unapologetic. Peach softens it, vetiver and amber ground it, vanilla warms the edges. It is opulent the way old Bollywood is opulent: big, green, sun-drenched, and completely sincere. Ça Sent Beau means ‘it smells good’, and the coriander adds a strange green wink that proves the point. Beginner-friendly.
