Composition
Launched in 2004 as Mugler's second superhero fragrance after A*Men, created by Christine Nagel and Jacques Huclier. An oriental woody built on soft spices, with licorice, anise and rhubarb over a leather heart and a woody, musky base of cedar, vetiver, patchouli, vanilla and violet. The bottle wears the line's star in red against a military-uniform green.
This smells like the back room of an old apothecary that also happens to be a superhero's lair. Anise and rhubarb snap open — sharp, green, almost medicinal — and then the licorice arrives, dark and rooty, wrapped around a worn leather heart that smells like the inside of a vintage car. Violet powder softens it just enough to be civilized, while patchouli, cedar and vetiver grind underneath like an engine that never fully idles. It's bold, strange, and completely unapologetic — a 2004 time capsule from when men's perfume had teeth. Not for everyone, and it knows it. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
