Composition
A*Men Pure Malt was created in 2009 in honour of traditional Scottish whisky and its smoky, woody-spicy aromas. It opens with fruity notes, orange and bergamot, develops into malt, whiskey, patchouli, coffee and cedar, and settles on peat, vanilla, amber and musk. An elegant, boozy gourmand with a smoky peaty depth.
To me this smells like stepping inside a Scottish distillery at closing time. Orange and bergamot flash bright for a moment, and then the malt takes over — whiskey-soaked oak, coffee grounds, patchouli dark as old leather — with real peat smoke curling through it all like a fire that never quite goes out. The dry-down is gorgeous and dangerous: vanilla and amber smoothing the smoke into something almost edible, musk warming the edges. It smells like a man who drinks his whiskey neat and has stories he won't tell twice. Boozy, smoky, magnificent — and absolutely not a first-date scent. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
