Composition
A 2013 smoky violet eau de parfum. Lavender, bergamot and oakmoss open into Egyptian violet, Turkish rose, vetiver and clary sage, over opoponax, myrrh and cashmeran. Powdery florals wrapped in resinous smoke.
This smells like a violet that survived a fire. Up top there's lavender and violet — powdery, purple, almost sweet — and then the smoke rolls in: myrrh and opoponax burning slow and resinous, oakmoss and vetiver dark as forest floor. Clary sage keeps it herbal and strange. It is the most haunting violet in perfumery. Beautiful the way ruins are beautiful. Cashmeran adds this strange woody warmth underneath the smoke, like embers under ash. It never stops being beautiful, but it is the kind of beauty that makes you uneasy — which is exactly why you can't stop smelling it. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
