Composition
Tony Iommi Monkey Special, from the Xerjoff Blends collection, is a boozy-spicy parfum created with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. It opens with Calabrian bergamot, rum, Bulgarian geranium and passionfruit, develops a heart of cinnamon, Singapore patchouli, Bulgarian rose and leather, and settles into sandalwood, ambergris, tonka bean, vanilla, caramel, labdanum and musk.
To me this smells like a rock god's dressing room — Calabrian bergamot bright as the stage lights, rum dark in a backstage glass, geranium green and sharp, passionfruit weird and electric. Cinnamon heats the air, patchouli earthy underfoot, Bulgarian rose wilting beautifully on the amp. Leather jackets everywhere, sandalwood smooth as a guitar neck, ambergris salty-sweet, tonka, vanilla, caramel and labdanum melting into pure backstage decadence. It is loud, leathery, and legendary — heavy metal in a bottle. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
