Bulgarian Rose
“Rose oil from the Valley of Roses — fresh, dewy petals with a bright, slightly lemony lift.”
Bulgarian rose, from the Valley of Roses near Kazanlak, is considered the world's finest rose oil, harvested at dawn from Damask roses and distilled the same day. It smells fresh, dewy, honeyed and profoundly rosy with a green stem-like vibrancy that cheaper rose oils lack. This is the rose of great classic perfumes, luminous and alive rather than jammy or heavy. In perfumery it represents the pinnacle of fresh rose. In Indian summers, Bulgarian rose in a light citrus-rose composition is heavenly, the real oil has a radiance that synthetic roses cannot match. It is expensive, but a little transforms a fragrance. For rose purists, there is simply nothing better.
