Composition
Palermo is Byredo's 2010 Sicilian citrus by Ben Gorham, a scent of the island's orange and lemon trees. Bergamot, bigarade, petitgrain and citruses open into fresh musk and rose, settling on skin musk and ambrette. Crisp, clean and sun-kissed — named after the lovers' spot in Sicily.
To me this smells like standing in a Sicilian orange grove at noon, when the sun is directly overhead and the leaves are almost too bright to look at. Bergamot, bigarade and petitgrain open crisp and green-bitter, the way citrus smells when you scratch the peel with your nail. It's clean in a way that feels almost cold against the heat. Fresh musk and a breath of rose soften the heart, and skin musk with ambrette dries it down to sun-warmed linen. Named after the lovers' spot in Palermo, it smells like the beginning of something: crisp, sun-kissed, and impossibly clean. Beginner-friendly.
