Composition
Oyedo is Diptyque's 2000 citrus-aromatic eau de toilette by Akiko Kamei, an homage to Edo, the ancient imperial city of Japan. Yuzu, mandarin orange, lemon and lime burst open the composition, thyme with a hint of raspberry shapes the heart, and woodsy notes anchor the dry-down. Sparkling, zesty and elegant.
This smells like a Tokyo morning market in high summer — yuzu, mandarin, lemon, and lime bursting open all at once, so sharp and juicy you can almost feel the spray on your face. It is an homage to old Edo, and it has that city's energy: bright, precise, alive. The thyme in the heart adds a green, herbal hum, and there is the faintest whisper of raspberry, like a secret. Woody notes in the base keep it from evaporating entirely. It is the most cheerful thing Diptyque ever made — a citrus bomb with manners. On a hot day, nothing beats it. Beginner-friendly.
