Composition
Eau des Sens is Diptyque's 2016 ode to the orange blossom, composed by Olivier Pescheux as a cologne for all the senses. Bitter orange and orange blossom open over juniper berries, settling into angelica and patchouli. Fresh, sparkling and mouthwatering — the Mediterranean in a bottle.
To me this smells like biting into a bitter orange in a Sicilian grove, juice running down your wrist. Orange blossom floods the air around you — sweet, narcotic, everywhere — and juniper berries add this gin-clear sparkle that keeps it from getting heavy. Angelica and patchouli ground it just enough. It is fresh and mouthwatering and completely joyful, the Mediterranean in a bottle, exactly as promised. Impossible to wear this and be in a bad mood. Bitter orange keeps the sweetness honest — this is joy with a backbone. Beginner-friendly.
