Composition
Mata Hari by perfumer Dawn Spencer Hurwitz was launched 15 November 2010 as part of the Outlaw project with the Natural Perfumers Guild, using banned natural ingredients. A 100 percent botanical modern fruity chypre inspired by the WWI spy and the Greta Garbo film, it pairs juicy fruits with a masculine leather background, vintage orchid and lilac, built on four botanical accords: fruit chord, lilac accord, vintage orchid and leather.

Independence note: “House claims X%” is the brand’s own marketing. “Scentarchy lab” scores are currently estimates from note overlap and community signals — no blind-panel tests completed yet. Dupes are listed under their own names; “inspired by” lines are editorial, not affiliation. Methodology →
