Composition
The more intense interpretation of the original Luna Rossa, launched in 2013 and created by Daniela Andrier. Luna Rossa Extreme opens on Italian bergamot and ripe black pepper with labdanum, moves into a heart of intense lavender absolute and juniper berries, and settles on amber and vanilla. The bottle is tinted deep black to evoke the mystery of the ocean.
To me this smells like a sailing yacht cutting through cold water — Italian bergamot and black pepper first, sharp as sea spray, labdanum resinous and warm underneath like tar on rigging. Lavender absolute and juniper berries give it an aromatic, almost gin-like heart, amber and vanilla drying it down warm and smooth, like the sun finally breaking through. The more intense Luna Rossa — fresh-spicy over a warm amber base. Adrenaline with polish. Daniela Andrier's intense take on the sailing original — more pepper, more amber, more everything.
