Composition
One of the six fragrances in the relaunched permanent Les Infusions collection from 2015, created by Daniela Andrier. Infusion d'Iris Cèdre is a floral-woody musk pairing powdery iris pallida with Atlas cedar: bergamot and orange blossom open bright, the heart is luminous iris and cedar, and benzoin, vetiver and amber settle the base. Unisex, as a 100 ml EDP.
To me this smells like the inside of an old cedar almirah in a Delhi winter, the kind where my grandmother kept starched cotton sarees between sheets of tissue. Bergamot and orange blossom flash first, like sunlight catching brass handles, and then comes that powdery iris — cool, distant, almost like face powder settling on marble. The cedar is dry and clean, vetiver like dried grass pressed between book pages, benzoin and amber warming everything from underneath like a low lamp left on in an empty room. It doesn't shout; it suggests. This is elegance worn quietly, the scent of someone who never needs to raise their voice. Beginner-friendly.
