Composition
A warm, voluptuous woody aromatic by Claude Dir. Plum, apple, grapefruit and bergamot open onto cinnamon, pink pepper, cardamom and juniper over rum, vanilla, sandalwood, musk, labdanum and cedar.
I get a mountain-cabin feeling — Plum, dark and velvety, crisp apple, juicy and bright, grapefruit, bitter and sparkling and bright bergamot, sparkling citrus crisp against a backdrop of timber and stone. Then comes Cinnamon, warm and fiery, pink pepper, rosy and sparkling, cardamom, green and camphorous-spicy and juniper, bright and piney, and the scent turns a corner into something more tender and full. There is a warm spicy hum running through all of it, tying every layer together. The dry-down is Rum, dark and molasses-sweet, vanilla, creamy and sweet, sandalwood, creamy and smooth, musk, soft and skin-like, labdanum, dark ambery resin and dry cedar, pencil-shaving woods — smooth, grounding, and quietly addictive. This one does not ask for attention; it simply deserves it. Beginner-friendly — a safe blind buy.
