Composition
Match Point is Lacoste's 2020 Eau de Toilette for men, a woody-aromatic created by Sophie Labbé around the thrill of the tennis court. Basil, grapefruit and pink pepper open over a bitter-green heart of gentiana, geranium and clary sage, drying down to vetiver and cashmeran. It arrives in a clear flacon of green juice with a black racket-grip cap.
The opening is a jolt of green energy — fresh basil and pink pepper with a bitter, almost tonic-like edge from gentiana, like the fizz of a cold green tea. Clary sage and geranium keep it aromatic and clean through the heart, and the base is soft woods: vetiver and cashmeran, smooth and quietly masculine. It is modern, sporty and effortlessly fresh. In India this is a superb summer daytime scent — office, gym, tennis, college — because it smells crisp and active without ever being sweet. Very beginner-friendly: easy to wear, hard to offend, though don't expect a long-lasting beast.
