Composition
Gaiac 10 is Le Labo's Tokyo city-exclusive eau de parfum, launched in 2008 and composed by perfumer Annick Menardo. A tense formula built on gaiac wood and wrapped in four different musks, with hints of cedar and olibanum incense. An intimate, deliberately quiet woody-musk skin scent sold year-round only in Le Labo's Tokyo labs, with a short worldwide release window each September.
It opens with a dry, meditative breath of gaiac wood and frankincense — like incense curling through an old teakwood almirah — then settles into a clean, creamy musk that never leaves the skin. There is no big projection here; it is a scent that hovers at the edge of your own awareness, calm and slightly smoky, like a quiet room after rain. In Indian summers it can turn faintly barbecue-smoky on some skin, so test it in heat before committing. Not for beginners chasing compliments or loud perfumes — this one is for those who have learned to love subtlety.
