Composition
Burning Barbershop is a masculine eau de parfum from D.S. & Durga, launched in 2010 and imagining the scent of shaving tonics in the 1891 Curling Bros. barbershop fire. Spearmint, lime and hemlock fir open into lavender absolute, tuberose and Turkish rose. Burnt oil, vanilla and hay form the smoky, sweet base.
To me this smells like a barbershop on fire — spearmint and lime bright as the tonic bottles, lavender and tuberose wilting in the heat, and then burnt oil, real and acrid, over vanilla and hay. Hemlock fir smokes at the edges like the old wooden chairs catching. The Turkish rose wilts beautifully in the heat, jammy and dark, and the hay at the base is dry summer fields — destruction has never smelled this good. D.S. & Durga's beautiful arson: a shaving tonic imagined in 1891, set alight. Fascinating, strange, and absolutely not a crowd-pleaser. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
