Composition
Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver is a masculine eau de parfum from Hermès, launched in 2018. It opens with Bergamot, Grapefruit and Lemon. The heart reveals Sichuan Pepper and Geranium settling into a base of Vetiver, Olibanum, Patchouli and Amberwood. Its character is defined by Citrus, Aromatic and Fresh Spicy accords.
To me this smells like rain on red earth — the exact moment a dry landscape comes alive. Bergamot, grapefruit and lemon open bright and electric, like the first drops hitting hot stone, steam rising, the whole world exhaling. It is one of the great openings in perfumery. Sichuan pepper crackles through the heart with its strange citrus-tingle, geranium green and composed, and then vetiver takes over completely — deep, rooty, green-gold, like pulling a plant out of wet soil — with olibanum, patchouli and amberwood smouldering underneath. It smells like the earth itself: honest, powerful, and quietly profound. Beginner-friendly.
