Saffron is an aromatic-floral-woody eau de parfum for women and men from Ajmal's Purely Orient line, launched in 2019. It opens with saffron, raspberry and pineapple, develops rose and davana in the heart, and settles into agarwood (oud), amber, cashmere wood and nagarmotha.
To me this smells like a saffron field in Pampore at dawn during harvest season — the air is cold, and the crocus flowers are still wet with dew, but there's a strange sweetness underneath, like someone left a bowl of raspberries and pineapple on the field's edge. The saffron itself is leathery and golden, nothing like the kitchen spice. Rose and davana bloom in the heart, dark and honeyed, and then the base turns serious: real agarwood smoke, amber, cashmere wood, and nagarmotha root — earthy, resinous, almost feral. Ajmal doesn't dilute their oud, and this one demands respect. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
