Composition
A 2012 Les Échappées oriental-woody EDP by Alienor Massenet, an ode to Paris's Latin Quarter — booksellers, jazz and stolen kisses. Spiced peach and florals over sandalwood, tonka and amber.
Quartier Latin smells like the inside of a beloved old bookshop after rain. Cardamom, clove and a soft peach open it, then jasmine, rose and violet unfurl — powdery, romantic, a little bohemian. The base is where it lives: sandalwood, cedar, tonka bean and amber, warm and 'inhabited' as Memo puts it. It's cozy rather than sexy, literary rather than loud. Works beautifully in Indian winters; in summer the powder can feel heavy. Beginner-friendly if you like soft ambery woods.
