Composition
Prada L'Eau Ambrée is an amber fragrance for women launched in 2009, developed by perfumer Daniela Andrier as a modern take on traditional amber. It celebrates its namesake amber, supported by opoponax and patchouli, with citron and rose de mai adding freshness and vanilla lending warmth. It was released as 30, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum and was a finalist for the 2010 FiFi Awards.
To me this smells like late afternoon in an old haveli courtyard, when the sun turns everything to honey. Citron first — bright, almost sharp — and then the amber rolls in like warm resin melting on a brass diya, thick with opoponax and vanilla. Rose de Mai keeps it from getting too heavy, a petal pressed between warm pages, and patchouli adds that dark, loamy depth underneath, like the smell of an old wooden trunk. It is the softest kind of warmth — a shawl, not a blanket. Amber for people who think amber isn't for them. Beginner-friendly.
