Composition
Launched in 1986, Obsession for Men is a warm spicy eau de toilette for men. The opening blends Cinnamon, Lavender and Coriander, followed by Myrhh and Nutmeg in the heart. The dry-down rests on Amber and Vanilla.
I have to be honest: this is a lot. Cinnamon and lavender and coriander and a whole citrus grove detonate at the top, and then myrrh, nutmeg, carnation, rosewood, pine and jasmine pile on — it's the eighties at maximum volume, spices and woods and flowers all shouting at once. It smells like a man who enters a room and doesn't need to introduce himself. Amber, vanilla, sandalwood, musk, patchouli and vetiver make the base a warm, resinous fog that lasts for days on a jacket. It's iconic and it's overwhelming, often in the same breath. Respect it, dose it carefully, and never wear it to a job interview. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
