Composition
Nawab of Oudh is a unisex eau de parfum from Ormonde Jayne's Four Corners of the Earth collection, launched in 2012 and composed by Geza Schoen. Inspired by the Nawabs of central India, it opens with cardamom, orange, bergamot, aldehydes and green notes, the heart blooming with rose, pimento, cinnamon, orchid, magnolia, bay leaf and hedione. The base rests on agarwood oud, ambergris, vetiver, labdanum and musk.
This smells like a durbar in Lucknow that never ended. Cardamom, orange, and bergamot open bright and spiced over aldehydes — that old-palace shimmer — and then the heart unfolds like a feast: rose, pimento, cinnamon, orchid, magnolia, bay leaf, a whole court of flowers and spice. It is opulent in the way only Geza Schoen doing India can be. The base is the real ceremony: agarwood oud, ambergris, vetiver, labdanum, musk — deep, resinous, animalic, like attar aged in a crystal bottle for decades. It wears like a sherwani: heavy, regal, not for the faint-hearted. Magnificent, and it knows it. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
