Composition
Osmanthus is a unisex eau de parfum from Ormonde Jayne, launched in 2006 and composed by Geza Schoen. Juicy pomelo, artemisia and pimento open into a heart of osmanthus absolute with water lily and jasmine sambac. Musk, vetiver, cedar and French labdanum form the elegant base. A cheerful springtime floral inspired by the sweet white flowers used in East Asian tea.
To me this smells like spring deciding to show off — pomelo bursting juicy and bright, artemisia and pimento adding a green-spicy snap, and then osmanthus absolute blooms through the middle with its impossible apricot-tea sweetness. Water lily and jasmine sambac keep it watery and light, musk and vetiver dry it down elegant as a linen suit. Geza Schoen made cheerfulness smell expensive here. Pure, golden, uncomplicated joy. Pimento adds a bright, almost fizzy spice that lifts the whole composition. Beginner-friendly.
