Composition
Nahema is a feminine eau de parfum from Guerlain, launched in 1979. It opens with Rose, Peach, Aldehydes, Green Notes and Bergamot. The heart reveals Bulgarian Rose, Hiacynth, Ylang-Ylang, Lilac, Jasmine and Lily-Of-The-Valley settling into a base of Peru Balsam, Sandalwood, Passionfruit, Vanilla and Vetiver. Its character is defined by Floral, Rose and Green accords.
To me this smells like a rose garden in a thunderstorm — aldehydes electric in the first breath, rose and peach blooming huge and dramatic, green notes snapping like wet stems. Bulgarian rose deepens it, velvety and dark, ylang and lilac swirling around like the wind. Peru balsam, sandalwood, and vanilla at the base are warm resin and dark wood — the garden shed after the rain. It is the most theatrical rose in perfumery, and it earns every bit of it.
