Composition
Jacques Guerlain's 1919 fruity chypre, named for the heroine of Farrère's 'La Bataille', pairs bergamot and jasmine with a daring peach heart over oakmoss, cinnamon, vetiver and amber — the chypre that invented the fruity chypre.
To me this smells like the chypre that started them all — bergamot and jasmine bright against the classic green. A daring peach heart, juicy and unexpected, over oakmoss, cinnamon, vetiver and amber. Mossy, earthy, and utterly timeless. The fruity chypre, invented here. Beginner-friendly — a historic, elegant chypre for the curious.
