Composition
Mandarino di Amalfi is a citrus aromatic Eau de Parfum launched in 2014 in the Private Blend collection, inspired by the Amalfi Coast. It opens with lemon, grapefruit, mint, basil, tarragon and black currant over a heart of orange blossom, jasmine, clary sage, shiso, coriander and black pepper. The base grounds it with musk, vetiver, amber, labdanum and civet.
To me this smells like a terrace on the Amalfi Coast at ten in the morning, when the citrus is still cold from the night. Lemon, grapefruit, mint, basil and tarragon open in a green-citrus rush — so fresh it almost stings, like biting into fruit straight off the tree. Blackcurrant adds a dark berry depth underneath the brightness. Orange blossom and jasmine bloom in the heart, Mediterranean and honeyed, while musk, vetiver, amber and labdanum dry it down warm and a little animalic — the civet adding a lived-in warmth like sun on stone. A private-blend postcard, and a very good one. Beginner-friendly.
