Composition
Named for the 12th-century rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia. Jasmine, freesia and green notes open into rose, ylang ylang, heliotrope and orange blossom, over vanilla, patchouli and musk with frankincense among the ingredients.
To me this smells like a church garden in the Ethiopian highlands at festival time — jasmine and freesia bright in the morning air, green notes like crushed leaves underfoot. It's fresh and joyful, the smell of somewhere ancient celebrating. Rose and ylang-ylang bloom warm and golden in the heart, heliotrope adding its powdery cherry-almond softness, orange blossom glowing through it all. Vanilla, patchouli, and musk settle it into something creamy and skin-close, sweet without being sugary. Floral, warm, generous. Like being welcomed by someone who's genuinely happy to see you.
