Composition
Jardin Clos is Diptyque's 2003 floral-green eau de toilette inspired by a small Devonshire house and garden, now discontinued. Lilac and watermelon open over a hyacinth and musk heart, settling into oakmoss, tolu balsam and cedar. A vintage-feeling, earthy green floral with a light aquatic lift.
To me this smells like a walled English garden in June, the kind with a rusty gate and roses gone slightly wild. Lilac and watermelon open dewy and nostalgic, hyacinth and musk breathe soft in the middle, and oakmoss, tolu balsam and cedar ground it like old stone walls. It is vintage-feeling and earthy, a green floral from another era — discontinued, which somehow makes it smell even more precious. A quiet, mossy dream. Hyacinth breathes cool and green through the middle, like shade under trees. Beginner-friendly.
