Composition
A 2018 homage to Ernest Hemingway built around vetiver. Ginger and rhubarb open into a vetiver heart, deepened by Haitian and Javan vetiver, leather, cedar and patchouli. Green, earthy and literary.
To me this is a Cuban study at 2am — or at least the fantasy of one. Ginger and rhubarb snap green and sharp across the top, and then the vetiver takes over, three kinds of it, Haitian and Javan, green roots and damp earth and crushed leaves. It smells like a man who writes standing up and drinks standing up. The leather arrives late, dry and cracked like an old typewriter case, cedar and patchouli keeping it woody and austere. This is not a cozy scent. It's brilliant and severe, and it will divide a room. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
