Composition
A pure perfume tribute to the Year of the Rabbit (Hasu means lotus in Japanese, symbolising purity). Saffron, cypress, sage, lavender, mandarin orange and violet leaf open into hay, osmanthus, damask rose, iris and nutmeg, over balsam fir, patchouli, amber, musk, pepper and moss.
To me this is a Japanese garden after rain, in the Year of the Rabbit. Saffron, cypress, sage and lavender open green and aromatic, then hay, osmanthus, damask rose and iris unfold, soft and contemplative, the hay smelling like a sun-warmed field and the osmanthus adding an apricot glow. Balsam fir, patchouli, amber, musk and moss in the base keep it earthy but gentle. Named for the lotus, symbol of purity, it smells like it: clear, green, serene. Complex, yes, but in a meditative way, never a confrontational one. Beginner-friendly.
