Composition
Released in 2009, Fat Electrician pairs a sharp opening of black pepper and elemi resin with a cedar and vetiver heart. Vanilla, myrrh and opoponax soften the drydown into something warm and resinous. Marketed by the house as a fragrance for men.
To me this smells like an electrician's workshop after hours — all sparks and sawdust and competence. Black pepper cracks open the scent like a live wire, sharp and startling, with elemi resin glowing green and citrusy underneath, like solder smoke curling off a fresh joint. It is not a gentle opening; it is a man walking into a room that smells faintly of ozone. Cedar and vetiver steady the heart — dry wood, green earth, honest materials — and then vanilla, myrrh and opoponax melt everything into something unexpectedly tender, like rough hands that turn out to be gentle. Loud at first, warm by the end. A character, in the best sense. Beginner-friendly.
