Composition
Eau Capitale is Diptyque's eau de parfum tribute to Paris, launched in November 2019 and composed by Olivier Pescheux. The house's first chypre, it opens with bergamot and pink pepper, blooms into an abundant rose heart, and settles on a defiant patchouli base. The bottle is decorated with Art Nouveau motifs by illustrator Pierre Marie.
Bright bergamot and pink pepper give a sparkling, confident opening before a lush, full rose heart takes over — romantic but never sweet or shy. The patchouli base adds earthy depth and a hint of rebellion, keeping the rose from ever feeling prim. It wears like a well-cut blazer: polished, Parisian, quietly bold. In India it is a lovely winter and evening scent; summer afternoons may amplify the patchouli. An easy wear for beginners who like roses with character.
