To me this is flowers under glass. Italian mandarin opens bright and clean, then rose and lily-of-the-valley bloom, delicate and dewy, like a florist's display in morning light, the lily-of-the-valley all dewdrops and white bells against the mandarin's brightness. White musk and ambergris in the base make it soft and glowing. It is Montale at his gentlest: no oud, no smoke, no drama, just flowers, citrus, and clean musk. The rare Montale you could wear to a family lunch. It smells like a florist's cold room in the morning, everything fresh-cut and cool. Beginner-friendly.
