Cornubia is Penhaligon's 1991 full-bodied oriental-floral inspired by the house's archives — a copious cornucopia of spiced cherries. Mandarin opens into freesia, neroli, orange blossom, jasmine and heliotrope, over vanilla, musk, woods and amber. Dazzling, rich and extravagant — modern sophistication veiled in luxuriant glory.
To me this is a Cornish garden in June — mandarin bright on the trees, freesia, neroli, and orange blossom tumbling over the walls, jasmine and heliotrope powdery in the hedges. Vanilla, musk, and amber underneath are the warm stone cottage, and everything smells like a cornucopia tipped over. The heliotrope is powdery almond and cherry pie, and it makes the whole thing smell like a bakery next to a flower shop — comfort in stereo. Powdery, floral, and generous: a full-bodied embrace of a perfume. Beginner-friendly.
