Composition
Clandestine Clara is a 2017 Eau de Parfum for women from Penhaligon's Portraits collection, composed by Sophie Labbé. It is a woody-spicy gourmand that opens on rum and vanilla, centres on cinnamon and musk, and dries down on an ambery patchouli base with woody notes. The character is the secret mistress of the Portraits family — sweet, spicy and smoky at once.
Old Monk rum poured over vanilla ice cream, dusted with dalchini, drifting into a smoky-sweet trail of patchouli. Clandestine Clara is the booziest of the Portraits ladies: warm, velvety, and just a little dangerous, like a secret told over drinks. It glows in Indian winter air and makes an excellent festive-night scent. Beginners who enjoy sweet, warm perfumes will find it very likeable — just spray lightly, because it's richer than it first smells.
