Composition
C for Women is a feminine parfum from Clive Christian's Private Collection, launched in 2010. It opens with cognac, marigold, narcissus, geranium, mandarin, bergamot and coriander, the heart blooming with tuberose, jasmine, violet, ylang-ylang, rose, incense, orange blossom, leather, osmanthus and patchouli. The base rests on tonka bean, amber, sandalwood, vanilla, musk and vetiver.
To me this smells like a grand ballroom an hour before the guests arrive — cognac breathing in crystal, marigolds and narcissus banked along the walls, and then the flowers take over completely: tuberose, jasmine, violet, ylang-ylang, rose, orange blossom, a whole conservatory at full volume. Incense and leather thread through the middle like a secret, and tonka, amber and vanilla gild the base. It is magnificent, dense, and utterly uncompromising. Private Collection means private for a reason. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
