Composition
Burberry Brit for Women was launched in 2003, created by Natalie Gracia-Cetto. Its almond, lime and pear opening gives way to a sweet heart of candied almond, sugar and peony, with vanilla, tonka bean and amber in the dry-down. The fragrance is known for its gourmand, bakery-like sweetness.
To me this smells like a London bakery at Christmas, seen through the window on a freezing night — candied almonds and spun sugar fogging the glass, pear tarts cooling on the sill. The lime cuts through the sweetness at the start like a cold wind under the door, keeping it from ever getting cloying. Then it wraps you up: vanilla and tonka like a cashmere scarf, amber glowing underneath, peony adding a soft floral lift that keeps the whole thing from collapsing into pure dessert. The mahogany in the base is the old shop counter, polished by a century of elbows. Sweet, yes — but sweet with structure. Beginner-friendly.
