1872 Vetiver is a unisex parfum from Clive Christian, launched in 2016 and composed by Beverley Bayne. A fresh-spicy opening of bergamot, grapefruit, galbanum and spices leads into an aromatic floral heart of sage, neroli, lavender and jasmine. Vetiver dominates the base with moss, musk, patchouli, incense, amber and cedar. Part of the 1872 collection inspired by Crown Perfumery heritage.
Scent story
To me this smells like the private gardens of a crown perfumery, kept exactly as they were in 1872. Bergamot, grapefruit and lime open bright over galbanum's green bite and a crackle of spices — rosemary, cardamom, black pepper — like walking past the herb beds. Sage, neroli, lavender and jasmine bloom in the heart, aromatic and impeccably groomed. Then vetiver takes the whole garden over: green, earthy, and regal, with moss, patchouli, incense and cedar building a base that smells like old money and older trees. Fresh-spicy on top, profoundly green underneath — vetiver worn like a crown. Beginner-friendly.
