Composition
X Twist Oudh is a unisex parfum from Clive Christian, launched in 2017. Spicy pimento, cardamom, bergamot, bay rose and neroli open into a vast aromatic heart of cypress, thyme, ginger, balsam fir, florals and olibanum. The base is built on agarwood oud with castoreum, amber, labdanum, benzoin, styrax, vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood.
To me this smells like walking into an Arabian forest where the air itself is perfumed. Pimento, cardamom and bergamot ignite the opening — spice and citrus over green laurels — and then the forest closes in: cypress, thyme, ginger, balsam fir, olibanum smoke rising through it all. And then the oud arrives with castoreum — agarwood dark as old blood, animalic and immense, wrapped in amber, labdanum, styrax, vanilla and sandalwood. It's magnificent and overwhelming in equal measure: a cathedral of smoke and spice. Approach with respect, and experience. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
