Composition
When the Rain Stops is a feminine eau de toilette from Maison Margiela, launched in 2020. It opens with Green Notes, Bergamot and Pink Pepper. The heart reveals Watery Notes, Rain Notes, Turkish Rose and Jasmine settling into a base of Pine Tree, Moss and Patchouli. Its character is defined by Aquatic, Woody and Green accords.
To me this smells like Marine Drive ten minutes after the rain stops — green notes and bergamot bright as the washed-clean air, pink pepper tingling like the city shaking itself awake. You can smell the exact moment the clouds give up. Watery rain notes pool in the middle, Turkish rose and jasmine blooming impossibly fresh, like flowers that only open after a storm. Pine, moss and patchouli dry it down earthy and green, the smell of the sea link with the rain still on it. Margiela's REPLICA line at its most literal — and most lovely. Beginner-friendly.
