Composition
Under the Lemon Tree is a unisex eau de toilette from Maison Margiela, launched in 2018. It opens with Lime, Petitgrain and Cardamom. The heart reveals Green Tea, Mate and Coriander settling into a base of White Musk, Cedar and Rock Rose. Its character is defined by Citrus, Green and Aromatic accords.
To me this smells like a siesta under a lemon tree in Sicily — the world reduced to shade, citrus, and the sound of bees. Lime, petitgrain and cardamom open bright and green, like the first breath of cool air under the leaves, sparkling and alive. It is the smell of doing absolutely nothing, perfectly. Green tea and mate lend the heart a calm, leafy depth, coriander adding its strange citrus-green whisper, like shade deepening as the afternoon wears on. White musk, cedar and rock rose settle underneath — warm wood, soft skin, sun on stone. It smells like the best hour of the day, stretched out forever. Beginner-friendly.
