SandalwoodVIII Rococo Magnolia is a feminine parfum from Clive Christian's Noble VIII collection, launched in 2017 and composed by Angela Stavrevska. It opens with cassis, mandarin and bergamot, the heart featuring magnolia and rose warmed by cloves and cinnamon. Oakmoss and sandalwood form the base. Inspired by the grandeur of the Rococo era.
To me this smells like magnolias blooming at dawn in a garden that also grows spices. Cassis and mandarin open juicy and bright, then magnolia and rose arrive warmed by cloves and cinnamon — like flowers dusted with garam masala, strange and gorgeous. Oakmoss and sandalwood ground it green and soft. It is baroque and romantic and completely wearable, the rare niche floral that does not demand homework first. Cassis stains the opening a deep purple-black, juicy and a little wild. Beginner-friendly.
