Notes
Versace's classic masculine woody chypre, created by Roger Pellegrino (listed as 1984 on Fragrantica, 1986 by most retailers). Sharp and warm, it opens with lemon, basil, bergamot, green notes and petitgrain, moves into a spicy-floral heart of carnation, cinnamon, patchouli, sandalwood, rose, cedar and jasmine, and dries down to leather, oakmoss, musk, vanilla, labdanum, amber and tonka bean.
Scent story
To me this smells like a power suit in 1986, shoulder pads and all. Lemon, basil, bergamot and green notes open sharp and aromatic — the classic masculine blast, turned up. Carnation, cinnamon, patchouli, sandalwood, rose, cedar and jasmine build a spicy-floral heart with real 80s swagger, the kind that filled boardrooms. The base is where it shows its teeth: leather, oakmoss, musk, vanilla, labdanum, amber and tonka — mossy, leathery, and built like architecture. A woody chypre from the era of excess, magnificent and completely of its time. Wear it like you mean it. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
