Velvet Rose and Oud is a rose wrapped in velvet and smoke — damask rose darkened by oud, praline sweetening the edges, clove adding a spiced warmth. To me it smells like a private dining room with red walls: candlelight, red wine, a single rose on the table slowly opening. It is Jo Malone's dark side — richer, deeper, more nocturnal than the house's famous lightness. The oud here is smooth but present, giving the rose a depth that feels almost decadent.
