Composition
Vanille Rouge (2019) by Jordi Fernandez, from the Atelier Versace collection. An oriental-vanilla blending Madagascar vanilla with rose: rose water, tagete and bitter orange open bright, followed by a heart of Turkish rose, praline and lily of the valley. The base of Madagascar vanilla, almond, musk and white amber is sweet, powdery and Middle East-inspired.
To me this smells like a patisserie inside a rose garden — rose water and bitter orange opening bright and sparkling, tagete adding a strange green-gold flicker, then Turkish rose and praline melting into the heart like a fancy mithai. Madagascar vanilla, almond and white amber close it soft and gourmand, with lily-of-the-valley keeping it fresh. An oriental vanilla that is all warmth and sweetness and craft. Dessert you can wear. Tagete flickers green-gold at the opening, strange and marigold-bright. Beginner-friendly.
