Composition
Vanilla Extasy is an eau de parfum for women by Montale, launched in 2008 and composed by Pierre Montale. It opens with apricot and apricot blossom, melts into vanilla, ylang-ylang and jasmine at the heart, and dries down to benzoin, sandalwood, resins and mahogany. Sweet, woody and balsamic, it is a rich, enveloping vanilla with a fruity lift.
The apricot opening is juicy and bright, like biting into a ripe khubani — then the vanilla rolls in, thick and creamy, wrapped in golden ylang-ylang. The dry-down is where it earns its name: warm benzoin and sandalwood turn it into a cosy, resinous vanilla blanket with a woody backbone. It is sweet but not juvenile, more like vanilla pods and polished wood than candy. Lovely for winter evenings and festive nights; in peak summer it may feel too rich. Fairly beginner-friendly for vanilla lovers, though the resinous depth rewards a sample first.
