Composition
L.I.L.Y., launched in 2012 and created by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, takes its name from Paul McCartney's nickname for Linda ('Linda I Love You') and explores the darker, more masculine side of lily of the valley. Truffle and pepper open onto lily-of-the-valley and pink pepper over oakmoss, patchouli, musk and ambrette.
L.I.L.Y. is a journey through a woodland floor — the earthy, daring note of truffle on top gives way to delicate lily-of-the-valley, her mum Linda's favorite flower, then descends into the sexy, sinister darkness of oakmoss, patchouli and musk. It captures the flower's roots and earthy side: feminine and innocent on the surface, masculine and mysterious underneath. The Art Deco bottle of crystal and metal mirrors that light-and-darkness tension. In India it suits cooler evenings and monsoon air. Not for beginners — the truffle opening is bold and polarizing; sample first to see whether its earthy darkness enchants or unsettles you.
