Composition
Star Musk, from Xerjoff's Shooting Stars collection, is a musky eau de parfum. It opens with mandarin, floral notes and amber, develops a heart of patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, iris, carnation and cinnamon, and settles into musk, vanilla, sandalwood, opoponax and benzoin.
To me this smells like a velvet curtain in a theater lobby — mandarin bright in the first breath, florals soft behind it, amber glowing like the house lights. Then musk, the real star, arrives in waves — clean and powdery and somehow everywhere at once, iris and carnation adding a vintage, lipstick-and-roses elegance. Opoponax, benzoin, and vanilla at the base are warm resin and sweet wood. It is old-Hollywood glamour, bottled. Cinnamon's warm spice glints through the musk, like stage lights. Beginner-friendly.
