Composition
Roadster by Cartier is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men launched in 2008 by Mathilde Laurent, created to attract a younger audience to Cartier fragrances. It opens with bergamot and mint, paving the way for a sweeter body of patchouli and lavender. The base blends cashmere wood, vetiver, vanilla and French labdanum.
I picture an open convertible on the Mumbai-Pune expressway at 6am, wind coming through the windows. That's this. Bergamot and cold mint up front, sharp and clean as the air off the ghats, and then lavender and patchouli doing the classic gentleman's handshake in the middle. It smells like someone who irons his own shirts and drives fast but never recklessly. The base is all comfort — cashmere wood, vetiver, a whisper of vanilla and labdanum warmth. It never gets loud; it just stays crisp for hours. A perfect daily driver of a fragrance, and I mean that as a compliment. Beginner-friendly.
