Composition
Hermès' first masculine, created by Guy Robert in 1970, is a sober and virile oriental fougère — aromatic clary sage and spices over a carnation heart, grounded in oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, tonka and amber.
To me this smells like a gentleman rider in 1970 — clary sage and spices aromatic and sober. A carnation heart, classic and virile, flowers with backbone. Oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, tonka and amber ground it, green and warm. Sober, and completely sure of itself. Beginner-friendly — a classic oriental fougère for traditionalists.
